Meet Our Waterfront Drop-in Session
23/09/2021Planning,Public Consultations,Events
Meet Our Waterfront is a project commissioned by Glasgow City Council to develop an urban masterplan for Custom House Quay and Carlton Place. The urban masterplan formed on the basis of a new structural quay wall built into the river, providing new development plots, new high quality public realm (of at least equal quantum to that existing in the area) and improving connectivity along the river edge.
These sessions will provide an opportunity to view the emerging designs, and discuss opportunities. During the event the design team will be on hand with visual materials to prompt conversation and gather your feedback on the emerging proposals for Custom House Quay and Carlton Place.

Wednesday 6th October: 11 am - 2 pm

Climate March - 6 November 2021
Glasgow City Council has received notification of the intention to hold a climate change march (public procession) on November 6, during COP26. Encouraged by the United Nations as a mechanism for people to show support for tackling climate change and having their voices heard, marches such as this one are a key feature of wider COP related activity, in host cities, while the official negotiations are being conducted.
The council and partner agencies, including Police Scotland, will now work with the organisers to strike a reasonable balance between protecting the fundamental right of individuals and organisations to organise and participate in public processions safely, and the need to minimise disruption to the wider community, by protecting the rights of all of Glasgow's citizens to go about their business without unnecessary disturbance and interference.

Public Consultation - Extended use of Body Worn Video by Police Scotland - last day for comments
Background
As you may know, we recently asked for public views on armed police officers using body worn video cameras to record certain incidents. Almost 9,000 people took part in that survey and the majority thought the use of BWV would increase trust and confidence in the police and make them feel safer. This positive response means we intend to proceed with plans to equip our armed police officers with body worn video cameras this year.
Consideration of wider roll-out
We are also considering giving these cameras to more police officers and staff in other roles across Scotland. We strongly believe the introduction of body worn video cameras would provide additional transparency and accountability when police officers and staff are dealing with incidents and carrying out their duties. It is also a vital tool in increasing officer safety and helping to secure convictions against those who choose to carry out attacks on members of Police Scotland which, sadly, are rising.
Public Consultation
With this in mind, we have launched a national 12-week public consultation on providing body worn video cameras to more police officers and staff across Scotland. We recognise how important it is to engage with our communities and gain confidence in how we use technology and introduce such significant change to policing in Scotland.
Link to survey
With this in mind, could we ask that you take part in our survey. Your views are extremely valuable to us and will be used to inform and shape our guidance and training for police officers.
