21 July 2020 – As part of the Spaces for People restrictions being implemented the following road closure will be in place for the safe removal of barriers from the transport trucks:-
• West Regent Street between Wellington St and Hope Street from 05:00hrs until 12:00hrs on the 23 July 2020. The road will be reopened as soon as the barriers have been off loaded.
To allow the barriers to be installed safely two traffic lanes will be closed on the following road:-
- Hope Street between St Vincent Street and Renfrew Street and Union Street from Gordon Street for a distance south of approximately 70m from 5am on the 23 July 2020 until barriers have been installed. Expected to be complete by 19:00hrs on the same day.
One lane for traffic, bus stops and junctions will remain open at all times. Lane restrictions will be removed as the barrier install is completed at each section.
As a reminder, please also note the bus stops at the barriers are also getting extended bus stop hard standing areas created. This work commenced yesterday and whilst the works have had little impact on traffic, Union Street bus stop works are scheduled to be this Saturday 25 July and Sunday 26 July 2020. To allow a service to still operate from Union Street, two bus stops will be closed leaving two open. Once the works are complete at the first two stops they will reopen and the next two stops closed. Lane restrictions will be in place for these works. Works are scheduled to start each day at 8am.
These temporary restrictions will be in place for a minimum period of 10 weeks.
