This year’s Great Scottish Run is taking place on 5th and 6th October, and the Merchant City and Trongate have a big part in it. As a result, there will be a lot of road closures, especially on Sunday 6th, when the half-marathon takes place.
5 Oct 05:00 – 16:30 / 6 Oct 04:00-16:30 PROHIBITION OF DRIVING
- On Saturday, Albion St, Bell St, Brunswick St, Candleriggs, George St, Glassford St, Hutcheson St, Ingram St, Montrose St, Shuttle St, Trongate and Wilson St will be closed.
- On Sunday, ALL roads from George Square south towards Glasgow Green will be closed, and there will also be restrictions along Clydeside as far west as the Transport Museum
5 Oct 15:00 to 6 Oct 16:30 – NO WAITING, LOADING OR UNLOADING
- There will be no waiting, loading and unloading restrictions in place on most roads around the Merchant City and Trongate.
